As with all fuel fired devices the best maintenance for the TImberline system is to exercise it once a month. Turn on the system and set the temperature all the way up and let it run for 15-20 minutes. Other than that there is no needed schedule maintenance for the system.
Most Timberline systems are connected directly to the auxiliary port on the vehicle fuel tank. The pick up tube for this Aux port is typically terminated around 1/8-1/4 of a tank. If you keep your fuel level above a 1/4 of a tank then your Timberline system will never run out of fuel. If you do by chance run the tank below the pick up tube and try to use the Timberline system it will give a Code 13 fault. Once you have refuelled you may have to restart the Timberline system 2 or 3 times to refill the fuel line to the Timberline.
The Timberline system stores very little hot water so there is no need to bypass the hot water heat exchanger when winterizing your RV. You can follow your RV manufactures recommended standard procedures of draining your water lines or put in winterizing antifreeze without hurting the Timberline. Whichever way you winterize you can still use the Timberline system to heat the interior.
